The Kharif season (June–October) is the most important growing window for most vegetable crops in Gujarat. With the right variety choice and timely sowing, farmers can achieve their best yields. Here is our complete 2025 variety guide for North Gujarat and Sabarkantha conditions.
Recommended variety: Sitro F1 — specifically selected for high-temperature tolerance and excellent regrowth in hot humid conditions of Gujarat's monsoon. For polyhouse growers: Kuku F1 remains the top choice even through Kharif.
Sowing window: June 10 – July 10 for direct sowing; June 1–20 for nursery transplant.
Recommended: Kanchan (OP) for dry chilli market; Sabar Green Chilli F1 for fresh market. Start nursery in April–May for June transplanting. Ensure well-drained beds — waterlogging is the primary risk during monsoon.
Recommended: Zuzana F1 (Yuksel Seeds) for polyhouse; Sabar Long F1 for open field. Nursery: April-May. Transplant after first monsoon rains settle.
Recommended: Sabar Okra F1. Direct sow after first monsoon rains when soil moisture is established. Monitor for yellow vein mosaic — use reflective mulch to repel whitefly vector.
Kharif is the primary season for bitter gourd. Sow directly or transplant in June–July. Our Sabar Karela F1 is adapted for North Gujarat conditions and gives consistent yield through the monsoon period.
